How I became natural

Sometime in 2009, my cousin came visiting. She had her hair in corn rows and the front was in curls. i just loved it, loved it! Then she tells me that her hair is natural. I simply couldn't believe it. I wished that I could summon up the courage and go natural.
One Sunday evening in April 2010, I visited the barber. I had lost my hair due to hair dye ( i dyed my hair red). The barber scrapped my hair, literally. Thereafter i was relieved. I had finally did the Big Chop. I woke up the next morning and was sad, my pathetic mane was gone.
The reviews I got from my colleagues was not welcoming, but i knew I had to be strong. Two weeks later, I texturised my hair. I loved my curls despite I messed up chairs with my greasy hair. I continued texturising and even relaxed the hair at some point.
Then in DEcember 2010, i knew i had to kiss relaxers goodbye. I cut off my relaxed ends and became a baptized natural.
Over the past 16 months, it has not been easy. But determination and some natural bloggers like Natmane and Natural Nigerian have made me realize that i made a very good decision.

Ok, that is my rather short story on how i became natural.

Like it?

Three years later, I have decided to update my blog.
I hope I will be consistent.
By the way, I am now a natural haired woman, so I'd be bringing you more juicy tit-bits of natural hair.
Stay blessed.

GATE CRASHING

One may wonder where I am gatecrashing to.............

Yesterday, my friend informed me that a bank will be conducting a test in the polytechnic today

and i know that all these banks either send you messages or e-mails which you have to take to the venue. As i did not have any of this two, i decided to gatecrash. the test time was slated for ten.

ten minutes to ten

i had not printed out my C.V,i had to rush to the cybercafe close to my house to do that.

5 minutes to ten

i don't have a pencil. i got to find myself one. i look for the nearest okada! trust me now! its my thing!

10 o' clock

i am sure as suprised, they were over 2000 people there, 15oo were gatecrashers.
so i fine tuned myself with some people.
"do you have a message?", someone asks me.
"nope". i replied.
"that's no problem, i have written like four bank interviews, i gate crashed, we will write", he continued.
Really, i wasn't bothered if i wrote or not.

12 o' clock
we're still waiting. a batch just finished.

1 o'clock
another batch finished.

4 o'clock
we're still waiting

5 o'clock
they start calling crashers like me but they start shortlisting
if you are older than 26, go home!!
if you don't reside in the south west, go home!!!
if, you are.......................................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

6 o'clock
after short listing, the lucky gatecrashers went in to write.

i wasnt lucky to write the test but i pondered on a few things.
Why do we have so many graduates looking for jobs?
why does the minimum requirement have to be 2:1?
why do we discriminate HND holders?
why?

IBADAN: The Good, The bad and the ugly

I am in love with Ibadan and I sure hate it as well. I have decided that for the couple of times i blog, i will show you the good, the bad and the ugly of Ibadan. TODAY, was ADedibu's 8th day fidau prayer, and the whole stretch of oke ado to molete was mounted with road blocks, to get yourself through, you either have to be a government official or wear the aso-ebi with Adedibu's picture imprinted on it.
Well, an average ibadan person speaks no English just yoruba and it is really frustrating when you don't hear what they say.
tomorrow, i am going to eat ten wraps of amala and abula (ewedu and gbegiri soup) with lots of shaki, pomo, abodi, ogufe and orisi orisi.
I will keep you posted.
how many people do you think are on that okada
see you soon

pre camp blues

Well, every student looks forward to graduation and of course, NYSC. The 2nd batch of this year, which i fortunately belong to, has had its own fair share of problems. At first, NYSC could not cope with the number of graduates that turned out this year, resources was not enough, and the list goes on...... After shifting the time for service by a couple of weeks, we will start service October 15th.
After sitting down at home for about six months doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, i am vey eager to go to camp. Under the pretext that call up letter will come out on 4th of October, i left home on the 3rd, kai! house was damn boring, came to my school, University of Ibadan and started "flenjuring". Friday evening, my friend, former roommate, called me and told me the news "posting is out". Quickly, as a typical bini girl , i flew bike straight to student affairs in school, thank God, ma toy phone has torch light, i told myself. the journey from the gate to student affairs was very long.
I was very scared, i was praying for somewhere close but somewhere not too far, then i saw my name, i was posted to................................................................... Oyo state. Ha! what with's me and this town, i cried, i am not leaving here, i felt bitter, most of my friends were in Abuja and Lagos, yes we all worked our posting and i am stuck here, i was wondering why this town, perhaps my destiny lies in this town.
So I am getting set to go to Iseyin( that's where the camp is going to be) on the 15th of this month, i pray i enjoy myself.
live everyay like its your last, leave a marking impression in someone's life today, ciao
